Hi everyone,

DataverseNO is exploring the possibility of setting up a collection of datasets for teaching and learning.

Can anyone point us to existing collections of educational datasets in Dataverse installations?

I am aware of the Austrian Social Science Data Archive's teaching and learning dataverse, but this is a set of high-quality datasets that are particularly appropriate for social science students. We are interested in establishing a collection of datasets that can be used for training in data archiving (and perhaps RDM more broadly).

All best,
Huw / DataverseNO

Hi Huw,

The other day at the Documentation Working Group meeting we talked about this thread you started. If you want to hear what we said, you can start watching at 45:35 here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1S3zF5D0qPioZbuBHYNy8qKTb9pW0Dl23/view?usp=sharing

Let me try to summarize.

We wanted to make sure you're aware that we started compiling a list of training resources in this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SR6A68dXv4dVpCImR7Gke-ps25xvOsw1_pXwjDxGMXU/edit?usp=sharing

I know this isn't quite what you're looking for but perhaps some of these training resources make use of datasets you can use.

The core Dataverse team also has a "sample data" git repo that we use when we want realistic-looking data for a demo, for example: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-sample-data

Also, if you'd like to start your own collection of datasets for teaching and learning, we're happy to link to them!

I hope this helps! Please keep the questions coming! Here's the thread in Zulip if you'd like to join us there: #docs > training resources

Thanks,

Phil
