This Google Group is a forum for collaboration for Toronto's open data
community. It is intended to be a place for many kinds of data users
and publishers: developers, analysts, researchers and other interested
citizens. This message is for newcomers to the group and will be
pinned at the top of the list of Discussion topics.

Purpose

We are a community of people from the Toronto region who have an
interest in freeing data in order to support transparency and
innovation in the public, social and private sectors. This forum has
been created by and for the community to discuss all things related to
open access data.

Relationship to the City of Toronto and Toronto.ca/Open

This forum is hosted at Google.com and is run by and for the
community. The City of Toronto is not responsible for the content or
management of this Google Group. However, we invite and appreciate the
participation of the staff and management of the City of Toronto and
its agencies, as we do other members of the community. If you're
looking for City of Toronto datasets or to provide feedback directly
to the City of Toronto, you should visit http://www.toronto.ca/open/.

Relationship to DataTO.org

This Google Group was created to support discussion for Toronto's open
access data community. DataTO.org was created as a web application to
help identify and prioritize datasets that the community is interested
in. This group and the DataTO.org site are meant to complement each
other as open community spaces.

Community Values

As a community we have some core values. We value openness, innovation
and transparency. We believe that sharing and collaboration are
important means to create new things of value. We are inclusive and
value diversity of thought and practice. We believe that community
well-being can be created in the public, social and private sectors
and that each of these areas of life have value. We are collaborating
to create a vibrant ecosystem around open access data in Toronto.

Community Norms

Because we value collaboration and diversity, the managers of this
Group will ensure that some minimum basic norms of behaviour are
enforced. No ad hominem attacks. No offensive language. No spam.
Repeated abuse of the Group against these norms can result in the
Member being banned from the Group. You can address you concerns to
the Owner and Managers of the Group.

Frequently Asked Questions

The community is working together to create a shared knowledge base
around the use of open access data as it becomes released. If you have
