Ok, I haven't done my homework on this one yet so I don't really know
how well this would or would not work. In time, I'll continue to read
about it, but in the meantime I thought I'd throw this out for
conversation.

Check out owncloud.org. This piece of open-source software appears to
be a way to essentially create your own private Dropbox. Wouldn't it
be interesting if we each could use DataStorageUnit as a backend to
our own owncloud?

The software appear to be highly beta for the moment.

Thoughts?

It looks interesting indeed. However, it seems to lack the
synchronization features of Dropbox. Ie. it is only a storage mechanism,
but that is what DSU is already :-)

I had the same idea about AeroFS but I haven't been able to try it out
since it is still on a closed invite beta.
