I've been using DSU with filezilla, but I find I'm needing more
features than filezilla can give me.

I'm wondering if anyone has figured out how to use DSU with a Linux
GUI for rysync such as

LuckyBackup
GRSYNC (which promotes DSU and says there are specific instructions
for)
GRADMIN-SYNC

or similar. It doesn't look like any of them support SFTP natively.

My first choice would be LuckyBackup which has a 'remote' tab and a
'also execute' tab where a series of commands can be run before the
backup task but with my limited knowledge I have not been able to get
it working with just the 'remote' tab.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

GrSync works fine with DSU. I have used it several times. However, now I find it more convenient to use the command line version of rsync, but if you need a GUI, GrSync should work.

I don't know lucky backup.

I've used grsync just on my local lan and found it pretty easy to
use. It can even run a custom script both before and after you run
your backup.

I'm sure it works just fine with DSU. Note that if you don't want
Grsync to open up a command prompt, asking for your ssh password each
time, don't forget to generate and then upload an rsa key to the dsu
server. The first time I ran Grsync, I thought it had locked up on me
when in reality it was waiting for me to type in my password in a
separate window (which I didn't see b/c it got buried behind 10 other
windows).

If you try Grsync and get stuck, feel free to post any specific
questions you have. I'm sure someone here would be able get you
going.
