Hi friends, I received this HD it is old and the customer himself informed that he opened it a long time ago and removed the label and seals, well the PCB board NUMBER 100422559 REV B.     HDA   QRCODE: J1078100404223EBU32670002EME0000U0000000000

In my research the approximate models are Models:
SEAGATE: 80GB ST380815AS
MATOR STM3160211AS, STM380215AS,STM3160215
Sizes: 80GB to 160GB

I need to know the correct model, capacity and firmware to purchase the device's donor hard drive

with seagate rom explorer F3 I can't identify it

F3RomExplorer only understands F3 architecture. Your drive is not an F3 model.

How do you know the exact model, version and capacity of the ROM  pbzcbf ?

I think the sticker at the end of the drive is the serial number, namely 5PT1DGPB. I think 5 is the site code and P is the number of heads.

A ST3160811AS drive has the same s/n prefix, but I'm not sure if the PCB is a match. Perhaps you could compare your ROM dump against others for the same model? In any case, I think it's clear that your drive has a capacity of 160GB.

How many heads and platters does it have? That's the difference between a ST3160811AS and a  ST3200827AS .
What are the part markings on the SDRAM? That's the difference between a ST3160811AS and a ST3160211AS.

Can you upload a detailed photo of the component side of the PCB? I need to be able to read the date codes on the ICs.

The date code on the sticker at the end of the drive is 24 July, 2006. Does that make it a 7200.9 or a 7200.10?

What does Ctrl-L report in terminal? What diagnostic messages do you see in terminal?

I think you have a 7200.10 PCB and ROM on a 7200.9 HDA. Is that possible?

It's a single disc Tonka Lite.

You started with this ...

"Hi friends, I received this HD it is old and the customer himself informed that he opened it a long time ago and removed the label and seals, well the PCB board NUMBER 100422559 REV B.     HDA   QRCODE: J1078100404223EBU32670002EME0000U0000000000 "

... but now you say that the PCB number is 100367028.

100422559 is a 7200.10 PCB, while 100367028 is 7200.9.

The latest photos show a 100422559 PCB.

The date codes on the ICs are 0649, 644, 650. That suggests that the PCB was manufactured in December of 2006. That's several months later than the date on the sticker.

I'm confused.  100367028 is the part number of an MCU, not a PCB part number.

https://firmware.hddsurgery.com/index.php?manufacturer=Seagate&family=Barracuda%207200.9

According to HDD Surgery's database, it's an ST3160211AS or ST3160811AS. The PCB has a 2MB SDRAM, so it must be from an ST3160211AS, if the PCB is native. But how do you account for the disparity in the dates?

Hi friends, sorry for the delay, I didn't have the donor hard drives to purchase, I made the purchase and they came from another state very far away, more than 3,000 km, there was a delay in delivery due to logistics.

Well, with your help, I purchased 2 donor HDs and another HD to compare the firmware and use of the PCB.

Donor 01: 160GB SEAGATE MODEL: ST3160811AS S/N: 5PT1DHBF Barracuda 7200.9 FW:
3.AAE P/N: 9CC132-302, Date code: 2007-03-25 Site Code: WU PCB: 100428473 REV: B country china

Donor 02: 80GB MAXTOR Model: STM380211AS S/N: 6PT3AH1T, P/N: 9DR111-326, FW: 3.AAE P/N: 9DR111-326, Date code: 2007-02-25, Site code: SU, pcb100422559 REV: B country china

Donor PCB 03: 80GB SEAGATE MODEL ST380215AS, S/N: 9QZ6SMTP, P/N: 9CY111-305, FW: 3.AAD Date code: 2007-12-13, site code: TK, PCB: 100422559 REV: C country :Thailand

Well, I did, cleaning the disk, as the customer reported that he opened the disk himself and removed the label and threw it away more than 8 years ago, it has several scratches and contamination and left only the hard drive without the label stored, and that he did not change the PCB.

Well, I compared donor 1 with the patient HD and they are very similar.

Patient Serial: 5PT1DGPB, Cover Number: 6317 3W101270220 2WTW070215, QR code near the motor: 100404223 J1078 3267 Drawing on HDA Similar, Reading head Qr CODE TL2-K AGB3-L 6738DBV68329B3L03

Donor Serial: 5PT1DHBF, Number on Cover: 6317 3W101270220 2WTW070213, QR code near the engine: 100404223 J1211 3267 Drawing on HDA Similar. QR CODE TL2-K AGB3-L 6737DABQB321B3L03

When changing the head, the disk turns on and spins and remains in busy mode, I took terminal output in photos, reading test for SEAGATE U5 and F3 and maxtor.

No disk identification, so I did a test with the original donor PCB board with original donor ROM, and the disk turned on and recognized as MAXTOR STM38021AS S/N: 5PT1DPGB Firmware: 3. AAE  80GB

But when accessing the data the disk did not access the data, when trying to read it due to the scratches on the magnetic plate the head died.

with the reference MAXTOR STM38021AS recognized by MRT, I used the second maxtor hd

Patient Serial: 5PT1DGPB, Cover Number: 6317 3W101270220 2WTW070215, QR code near the motor: 100404223 J1078 3267 Drawing on HDA Similar, Reading head Qr CODE TL2-K AGB3-L 6738DBV68329B3L03

Donor Serial: 6PT3AH1T, Cover Number: 6317 3W101270129 2WTW070128, QR code near the engine: 100396884 034656 1297 Different HDA drawing. Different QR CODE.

I used the patient's PCB again, it is in busy mode, when using the original donor's PCB it turns on and turns and recognizes MAXTOR STM38021AS S/N: 5PT1DPGB Firmware:  3. AAE  80GB  . When trying to mount the image and read it, it doesn't read anything and the head hits the disk scratches again and dies.

I opened the 80GB Seagate and the structure is different and has a head and the PCB board does not work or rotate to keep busy on the patient

The question is whether the head recognition is correct, or whether it was taken from the PCB's RAM memory cache or whether someone changed the disk's fw years ago.

And if it's worth trying more donor hard drives and if I buy more Seagates ST3160811AS 160GB hard drives, OR MAXTOR STM38021AS 80GB hard drives.

The capacity reported in your screenshots is 156299375 sectors. The full capacity of an 80GB HDD is 156301488 sectors. This means that the drive has a HPA with a size of 2113 sectors. This is consistent with the HPA that is created by Gigabyte's Xpress Recovery BIOS. This HPA stores a backup copy of the BIOS. If your motherboard is not responsible for this HPA, then this means that the client's motherboard shrunk the drive, which in turn means that 80GB is the drive's true native capacity.

If the drive's true capacity is 80GB, doesn't this mean that one head is switched off? If so, then is the top head being used?

good on the 80gb maxtor stm380211as, comes with only 1 plate and two heads when detected on the mrt it shows only one head in operation and the other is unused
