This is an actual WD drive, not HGST.

Try to unlock ROM using WD tools (IDK if it's supported by PC3K but the drive is similar to other WD models)

the hitachi ccb menu detects it as a vela_AP

all models fail the key length test

seems like the pc3k should not be strict about it and just try it.

Seems like the software is just rejecting without trying based on length

utility starts but no SA access

It's not a HGST CCB drive, there is no point trying CCB tools on it.

it said it unlocked it but I am nervous about writing this back tothe drive.

the board has 5 roms

I read 2 from the right side

and the 5th one from the left end actually looks like the rom

the others are cache?

There is only one code ROM on this drive, the others are system data storage.
