I have a 1TB 860 Evo. It has "failed" around a dozen times, and each time I recovered it by disconnecting the data cable and allowing the SSD to remain powered for several hours. Initially I only allowed a "self-repair" time of a few minutes. This sometimes allowed the SSD to ID, but it would crash again after a short time. SMART is still error-free. I'm using that same SSD to type this.
