Good afternoon. I received this SSD in today. Does anybody know the adapter I would need to convert this to a SATA connection so I can put it on the PC3K? It is time-critical so I would be grateful for a quick response.

Depends on if it's NVMe or not. If it's NVMe, all my research points to a direct sata adapter not working. I had to get an NVMe to PCIe adapter. If i'm wrong someone PLEASE tell me because it's been a pain in the butt.

Here's a link to the NVMe adapter that I have used: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A4XZB38/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If it's a straight M.2 connection (i can't tell the difference visually, and I haven't looked up your part number) then an M.2 to SATA Adapter works: https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIV0S64AT0383&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleBizMKPL-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleBizMKPL-PC-_-pla-_-Server%2FWorkstation+Systems-_-9SIV0S64AT0383&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4fK_paSR1gIVjol-Ch2ntgUbEAQYAiABEgIM4PD_BwE

The NVMe version is ever so slightly slightly larger so it won't work in a normal m.2 adapter.

Hope that helps. Hope someone tells me I'm wrong so my life gets easier. :)

Hi Phil!

This is the one of the ones I use.

Despite the description this will NOT work on PCIe NGFF drives. This only works on the SATA (AHCI) drives. I am not sure if this would work with the PC-3000.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you. ;-)

It is difficult sometimes to tell what adapter just from a picture. You sometimes need to experiment with adapters to find the right one.

Hi Fraser. There are two notches in my SSD and I only see one on the adapter. Have you had similar drives that worked with that adapter?

Thanks.

Hi Phil,

I looked up that drive and that is indeed a SATA NGFF drive and not a PCIe drive. That adapter I sent you the link for has worked for me with drives that are with drives B key and B+M key. Notice that one side has 5 pins and one side has 6 pins. Make sure you do not put the drive in backwards or you will release the magic smoke.

For PCIe NGFF drives you need to use an adapter that plugs into the PCIe slot...or, just use a motherboard with an M.2 slot that can handle both PCIe and SATA NGFF drives. I have never seen an adapter that can switch PCIe to USB...It seems like that would take quite a bit of circuitry to make that sort of conversion.

I went ahead and ordered one this afternoon. I saw the letters B and M on the SSD so I thought it was probably the right one. I will definitely make sure to have the correct orientation on the SSD.

Thanks for your help.

More info about SSDs than you can shake a stick at!

Enjoy.
