Hello,

A client submitted a Seagate Barracuda “Pharaoh” HDD exhibiting an atypical acoustic pattern (audio attached).

Work Completed
  • PCB cleaned due to light contamination.

  • Power rails verified: 3V and 5V nominal; 12V reading ~11.80V but within acceptable tolerance.

  • Firmware dumps created (initial + verification dump attached).

  • ROM Explorer analysis performed (results attached).

  • Compatible donor ROM prepared for eventual adaptation.

  • Check crc for both dump

I would appreciate an expert review of the acoustic symptom and the firmware/ROM integrity to determine the next steps.

Thank you.

What tools do you have?

First thing to check, does the ROM SN match the drive?

The rom SN match for both drum but for the  donor I don't think so as it is a  "compatible donor" imo (same architecture ,same ic chip model): same voltage and page)
