Hi.

I search a data recovery tool which can handle HDS-files generated by Parallels.

Some of the files are damaged and can't be mounted...

Thanks for any advice!

If it's a virtual machine, what is so special about it that a regular data recovery tool can't handle it? Is it compressed? Encrypted???

FWIW, this is the file format that PhotoRec uses to carve these files:

Can you strip off the header and extract the files using 7Zip? 7Zip can handle OS images.

I needed the filenames, etc.

Anyway - r-Studio could not read it because it's kind of working like a sparse-file and all LBA addresses where wrong. I was able to parse a FS-tree with r-Studio but files where all damaged.

UFS Pro did handle the file well and was able to extract all needed data. Thanks anyway for the input!

When you say 'cannot be mounted' do you mean you cannot mount them in Parallels?
