Hello all!

I am having a strange issue with patching the ROMs on 2 different drives, one that's a M11 and one that's a Rosewood_8C. I patch the ROM in the utility, write it back to the drive, and restart the drive. It starts throwing Servo Op=0100 Resp=0007 errors but never gives a prompt to unlock. After a 3 errors, the drive comes ready but will not let me get a terminal prompt or indicate that the terminal is locked.

I am  assuming that the head stack is failing but usually I am able to get a prompt to unlock the drive.

Am I missing something here??

It sounds like the heads cannot find the servo markers and fails at initial calibration. For the rosewoods, in my experience, it has to pass the initial head test before you get the unlock prompt.

Try setting max heads to 0 and see if the drive will present the unlock message.

Hi Chris,

How do you set the max head to 0 on Rosewood when there is no access to the head map?
