HDD Capacity: 4TB WD (non-SMR)
Case History: The HDD originally had two partitions with two different virtual machine OS installations. The drive was accidentally formatted with XFS, resulting in a single 4TB partition.

Xfs spreads the inode tables across the drive. The second partition could be in great shape.
Because the size changed it could be that the inodes in the first partition are largely undamaged.

This is the result of a quick scan of 1st partition.
data is abnormal!

when I scan full HDD it's UFS, R-studio, Disk Genius  - stuck after 50%

if you run the option to give the files proper extensions do you find valid files.
The inodes which point to the data
are separate from the directories which hold the filenames.
so these could be valid files
what do the hex signatures look like.

I dont really understand why would you need additional hardware/disks when its a RAID 1
