Hi Group,

I'm wondering if there's any interest at this point to buy PC3000 Portable III and Flash (which includes bga 152, LGA 52, TSOP 48 and Micro SD card circuit board)? All are in fully working condition almost unused. The license has been used and support has been expired. I've already emailed Max Putivtsev from Acelab and waiting to hear back on.

cheers!
Pourya

PC-3000 Portable III makes not a big sense when Russians of ACELab says that

- **CFexpress** digital cards (via special CFexpress Adapter)
- **U.2/U.3 (SFF-8639)** PCIe SSD (via special SSD PCIe U.2 Adapter)
- **Intel Optane H10/H20** hybrid memory modules (via special SSD PCIe NVMe/AHCI + Intel Optane Adapter)
- **MacBook Pro A1706/A1708** (2016-2017 models with PCIe NVMe x4 SSD - via special MacBookPro A1706/A1708 adapter)

**Additional limitation:** The PC-3000 Portable III can only work with **1 NVMe SSD at a time**, while the PRO can handle **3 NVMe PCIe SSDs simultaneously**.

The worse part of this list are the Apple SSDs

A this point this device in our lab , only if equipped with several SSDs adapters may be evaluated 3.000-3.500 euro

Max told in a meeting in Rome that they could pass the license of a second hand Portable III , but this must be confirmed.

Let me know if this can be interesting for you and if you can provide a commercial invoice for the purchase.

Kind regards

The price is too much compared to what it adds as functionality

We have told ACELab to change the model for the proposal:

- Pay a basic price, e.g. 4000 euro + the support with full functionality for HDDs
- For SSDs, a temporary activation from remote during the support session. If the case is supported and solved, then a reasonable amount to be determined is paid. When the sum of these fees reaches a certain amount, a license is received that unlocks everything.

------

But since they know that the data recovery toy is about to break...

...they don't do it and they quote an unrealistic figure.

They continue with a development model that worked well for HDDs but is totally and absurdly inadequate for SSDs.

They do reverse engineering one by one and this, given the numbers, MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

We have told them in every possible way and manner: "they must make agreements with SSD manufacturers" and have support for SSDs of various models while these are entering the market.

Then the support would be paid gladly, because quarter after quarter there would be continuous additions of new models.

For a Rosewood that has been lasting for 10 years, I can wait even 1 year or even 2 to have it supported by PC3K: because then I will receive hundreds of them.

But ... look at your shelves: how many pieces do you have for a certain SSD model?

And how long after they were produced did they arrive to you?

Do you understand why they must send a business developer and try to find agreements with SSDs manufacturers?

Meditate on this, people, meditate.

And of you understand, write an email to Acelab, pressing for them to at least make an attempt

because if they succeed with some , the others will follow

with a nice sticker on the SSD box
"Acelab Approved"

Regards
Roberto

SSD manufacturers will never share proprietary information about firmware with ACE.  That why they digitally sign their firmware so on one steals it. That will never change

1. Just a backdoor for the virtual traslator matters is needed,
not the firmware

2. The leverage comes from the badge they can put on theirs SSD. Similar than Seagate puts on the external HDD boxes
The SSD maker that agrees with Acelab will have the right to put a sticker "in case of accident supported by Acelab"

Or similar (to be conceived)

You need to use loadrrs to get to the translator. That means the manufacturer needs to unlock the firmware. Don't get me wrong it would be great if it happened but highly unlikely.

The ssd manufacturer could add an api-like interface. Probably a set of vsc command s. It would be universal, 1 standard that allows us to work with the drive. Their secrets would be safe.

Customers think ssd are crash proof.
I educate them yes they tolerate dropping. But fail suddenly without warning and are mostly not recoverable.

Is the Dr industry represented on the sata interface committee to push for these commands? Ace should have a rep there.
