Dear Friends,

I have received a Seagate ST3500413AS drive with the following issue:

  • Head 0: Read is working, but it has a write problem.

  • Head 1: Both read and write are working properly.

  • Due to the write issue on Head 0, I am unable to disable 93 Auto Allocation.

  • I currently do not have a donor drive for this case.

If anyone has experience with this issue or knows a way to proceed using Head 1 / existing resources without a donor, please guide me. I would really appreciate your technical help to recover the data.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. I understand that Head Map modification in ROM and RAM may help in this case.

I have not performed this procedure before, so I’m not fully sure about the correct steps. Could you please guide me through the RAM Head Map modification step by step first? I want to avoid making any changes to the ROM incorrectly.

I have attached the ROM screen screenshot for your reference. Please let me know exactly which option/settings I should use to bypass the problematic Head 0 and work with Head 1.

I really appreciate your help in getting this case successful.

Thanks,
Kannan
