Good afternoon. I have a 4TB WD drive (WD40NDZW-11A8JS1) that I want to convert to SATA. I have done about ten of these successfully but I want to use a donor PCB on this particular drive (2060-810035-000). I know I did this at least once when I had a physically broken PCB but is there anything to worry about as far as encryption goes after writing the customer ROM to the new PCB?

Thanks.

You also need to swap the MCU.

Does this PCB have a no-spin symptom? If so, then there may be a dry solder joint at the zero-ohm resistor near the USB connector. Reflowing the solder would then be the solution.

A8 as A9 family Is spyglass 2 ultra

and the CPU has encryption keys inside

you must use original board or at least original CPU to read the data
