We had a the following "SAS" drive come in for data recovery:

Dell Seagate Savvio 10K5
P/N: 9TE066-150
ST9300605SS
Config Code 1313

As you can see in Picture1A.jpg and Picture4a.jpg there has been extensive damage to the circuit board. As you can bet, when we tried to plug this drive up to power it, the drive would not spin up at all. Some of the chips around the damaged area also have some of their solder joints broken and you can lift them up.

We did find a correct donor and placed the donor drive's PCB board to the original drive and the drive would spin up without any mechanical sounds (Which is good) but would not come ready.

My question to the group is... What chips on this board need to be moved to the donor board. As you can see in Picture3a.jpg I can see (3) 8-pin chips on the SAS board.

Typically on the SATA Drives we would have (1) to (2) 8-pin controller chips that would need to be moved for a head swap. In this case, and the hard drive being a SAS drive, AND there is no head replacement between the drives. what chips need to be moved?

Any help would be much appreciated!

v/r,
Kris

Should be the ROM chip top left starting with 25. Use that as a starting point.
