Maybe some of you already knew it but for me it is an exciting news.

I got a PM from Philipp Guehring (recovermyflashdive) on Reddit:

" Hi! I have developed a solution for LDPC flash data recovery:

if you want to try it or need any help with it, please let me know. Best regards, Philipp "

I think Christmas came earlier in this year to the DR community. :-)

He is not from Recoverymyflashdrive, that is Jeremy Brock’s company, so you may want to deleted the message and start again.

The Jury is still out on whether this works or not. A few people who I know and trust are saying the solution doesn’t work (but I hope he finds it soon).

Tim, I don't know them personally (neither via the internet) so thank you for your valuable feedback!

Probably my mistake because I saw only one post on his profile what mentioned recovermyflashdrive and I thought that's him.

I'll delete this post after an hour if you read it.

Why doesn't he talk to Jeremy directly?

I believe he has. I think JB was skeptical about the solution.

Why is he skeptical? Why is it so hard to test the solution and prove that if is it working or not? Numerous LDPC cases flying in the air nowadays, he can grab any of them.

Skeptical because he tested it. He doesn’t need to grab them, he gets about 20 a week.

' Skeptical because he tested it. '

I believe you. So can we say that guy wants to get on the 'LDPC train' and he is trying to sell nonworking solution to the victims?

It was worth the sharing because at least it quickly became clear that this thing is fake. Or is it to early to declare that?

' He doesn’t need to grab them, he gets about 20 a week.  '

That's exactly what I meant, just my English is not polished enough.

I don't think there's anything fake and as yet nothing is being sold.

It's a technical problem that is being worked on and he has requested data samples. I'd have no problems in sending the samples if I had the need and I've been asked to just that - as yet haven't had any. I intend to purchase a few cards to test when I've cleared my current load.

If it works great, if it assists in recovering just 10% of cases that's better than nothing. If it doesn't it has at least added to the collective community knowledge around the problem. It's my opinion, and I've posted before there is too much dependence on too few commercial solution providers and r&d is stagnating as a result of the lack of competition between them.

Just wanted to make it clear. I think the work Phillipp is doing is groundbreaking. Not only that, he is doing it as freeware to help us all. I have a lot of LDPC cases in here so I am all in favor of anyone who comes up with a solution. It will help us all and help the industry. I was just referring to the fact that as of yet, there are no know successful cases (unless anyone know otherwise) and a few people have commented that they have tried it and it does not work. I was just trying to temper people’s expectations. But I RERALLY hope he can get it to work.

But I am all in favor of the great work he is doing and will help him with cases/samples whenever possible.

Mike, Tim: Thank you for your enlighting thoughts and the insights, it's clear and straightforward now.

It'd be better if I can keep myself quiet. :)
