Hi everyone,

Has anyone handled a case of an Apollo drive? I have a case that has damage to head 2 and the platter. Replacements all come back with dust but the rest of the heads are clean. PC3K cannot find the head map in ram for this model yet. I did try to disable in ROM the bad head but the drive will knock and go into kernel mode. As this is the first case of this family we have had I am at a loss of what to do next.

Thanks!

I just experimented on a good drive and get the same results with the ROM. Even if you add in an additional head (like the older WDs) it still goes into kernel mode. I guess this is one of those drives that physically tests the heads on boot up.
