Ok everyone, here is a primer of what we need to do. Feedback welcome,
nothing is gospel.

Goal: A draft document will be circulated to Steering in early
September, on what we believe should be the official vision of the
DataPortability Project. The purpose of this excertise is that so that
we have:
- direction: we know where to focus our efforts to align things with
that view
- a framework: we can evaluate things (ie, company announcements),
with respects to our vision
- Consistency: We can be more consistent with what we say, and things
like our missions to our branding can be derived from the common
document. It will be the central node for everything we do.

What we need to do as preparation
- research the DataPortability archives (all chats, forums, etc) for
what people have said what they think DataPortability is and is not
- research the blogosphere on what people think DataPortability should
be and should not be
- Consolidate that research into points, and if there is disagreement,
we follow up as apporpriate
- Once we have some consensus,we draft the report

How's that for a plan?
Task that up for grabs
- Someone to go through the original DataPortability workgroup, and
present findings
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
December 2007 and January 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
February 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
March 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
April 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
May 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
June 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability public mailing list for
July 2008
- Someone to go through the DataPortability policy group
- Someone to go through the DataPortability evangelism group
- Someone to go through the DataPortability technical and
implementation group
- Someone to go through the DataPortability steering group

I think once we have done that, that's a good start. Phase two will be
the blogosphere, which will involve
- Twitter tracking of what people have said (ie, collection of links)
- Monthly tracking of blog posts and what people have said.

However, I want to place priority on the rich discussion that has
occured in the forums

Can I get some validation on the approach and secondly, who wants to
volunteer for what?
