Curious - anybody else going to be on this EULA/TOS call this afternoon?

Likewise. Can someone give an update via this mailing list on points of contention that we could possibly discuss here? Greenberg? Christian?

Hi!

Well, I also did not make the call unfortunately and also did not get
my action items done from last call (which mainly is collecting use
cases but apparently everybody can add some).

And as Steve is busy I think he also did not get to his action items.

So maybe we can do that call for real. Tomorrow would not be good for
me but friday would be good. Or we do it next week. I am usually ok
with around the steering group call times which is 2000 UTC. From
1900-2200 UTC I am usually ok with. Any proposals?

As for the state of things: Steve and I discussed a bit about what the
use of such a vocabulary could be and Steve is more on the side that
services can inform people then about their restrictions before they
signup while I think it's also useful to attach such terms to your
data so that services know what I want be done with my data. Of course
this might affect business plans.

Steve, please correct me, if I am wrong ;-)

And here are some ideas of Steve on how to approach this with actions
and actors: http://wiki.dataportability.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4490765

My proposal would be to collect use cases, see what they have in
common and try to express these things in easy terms.

And what we also wanted to toss in is Raph Koster and his ideas around
his startup metaplace (basically you can create your own virtual world
with it) where he e.g. says that users can create their own TOS for
their worlds. So I want that for my data! :-)

see http://www.raphkoster.com/2008/09/15/declaring-the-rights-of-metaplace-users/

In the meanwhile if you want to add use cases, simply create a section
here and maybe we start with some prose ones which we eventually can
detail out:
