Hey all, I was just thinking about how we could get better participation between groups on relevant discussions, and just had this idea:

Make a small service that posts new topics in each group, when they begin, to the public group in one digest email a day.

This would mean, say, in an action group, they begin discussing some topic; but I'm not in that action group. But, the topic -- Just the topic -- gets posted in the daily topic list to the public group, where I can see it, and notice it. I might notice it's a topic I have experience in, and want to help, or provide an expert viewpoint on. This would likely enable more people to keep up to date with topics in sub-groups and committees.

What do you all think? Is anyone against making the service?

I think that is a great idea. Also I would like to nominate myself as the welcome chair. As new members join I will greet them with a hello and welcome. Please let me know if anyone would second that nomination.

Have a beautiful day! Namste.

Daniel

This has been suggested before, and was supported, but not done because the current contributors are stretched in their workload.

Would you be willing to perform this function?

Yup. I can do that, I think. I guess I could just sign up a gmail account, join the various groups with it, and write a ruby script to connect to imap, compile a list, and email the public group with a list of topics from the other groups.

Unless anyone has any better ideas?

Another possibility would be to create a gmail account, subscribe it to each of the lists in "Abridged" mode, and set up a mail rule to make it forward those messages to the public group.
