Hi Priya,

The National Crime Records Bureau publish an annual report Crime in India which is probably what you are looking for. Here's the url for the report for 2019:

https://ncrb.gov.in/en/crime-india-2019-0. The only difficulty with using their data is that tables are in pdf format. I find that Tabula does a good job of extracting the data in csv format.

Yes. Moreover, NCRB had recently notified an NDU ( No Disclosure Undertaking ) and Data Anonymization policy. They have started working with some interns. You can contact them.

 I would like to add my bit to this conversation. Even I have chosen a  topic (for college project) which requires crime data of my city. But the problem is that they don't provide you the data right away. The authorities with whom the data is ask multiple questions regarding why we exactly want the data (it is also mandatory I think to submitting a proposal) I had requested my data in March before lockdown and still haven't received it.
