India census population data

Where can I find the most recent population data of India? Do we have 2021 census data publicly available? I am looking for more granular dataset as my analysis needs 1km*1km data. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yeah, I thought there would be something, extrapolated data based on 2011 and some ground truthing. Where can I find the granular spatial data of 2011 census?

Hi Naresh

The latest Census data isn't available (I'm not sure if it has even been conducted) but 2021 population and wealth estimates are available at the village level in the folder called 'Facebook Wealth and Population 2021' on this link (please read the Metadata to understand how these estimates were calculated and also go over the Core Keys folder to Match SHRUG IDs):
