Hi,

Has anyone compiled the govt directory data. For eg, bureaucratic post level data would include list of people who has occupied that post and the duration of their term.

For instance, I have compiled the data for Rajasthan from here: https://dop.rajasthan.gov.in/forms/newhistoryform.aspx

Was wondering if anyone else is also involved in similar task for other states or at the center level.

best,

Hi Vaibhav

Data on bureaucrats has already been compiled by the Trivedi Centre for Political Data here:

Is this what you were looking for?

Thanks and regards.

Hi Shiv,

Yes, I also have that data but If I am right, it doesn't have rich enough geographical information ( for eg, district of posting). Further, it doesnt have data for State Civil services.

Are you aware of any other data repo that at least has a district of posting for all IAS?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Vaibhav

I don't remember anything off the top of my head. However, I do have a group of research papers on Indian bureaucrats which use different data sets, some of which may be publicly accessible. You can read the 'Data' section of each of these papers to figure that out:

However, the folder may contain some papers written in the context of countries other than India. So you will need to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Thanks and regards.

Yours sincerely
