Where can I get India's Tehsil boundary map in shape format.

I need India's Tehsil boundary map in shape format. Can anybody have any idea where can I get it?

Look for the Administrative Boundary dataset.

I have checked SOI data. They don't have Tehsil boundaries. They have State, District and sub-division and district boundaries.

Sub districts are the same as tehesils.

Sub-districts are called by different names in different states. They can be called tehesils, taluks, mandals and so on.

Sub-district and Tehesil are not the same. Tehesils are know as block in few state and sub districts are different.

Tehsils are revenue administrative units. Community development blocks on the other hand are development administrative units and they are not the same as tehsils in most states.

I am yet to see an official definition of what a subdistrict is.

Census documents state that they use revenue administrative units while presenting data. But individual district handbooks in some states( West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand etc )

 also say that they use community development blocks to present data.

West Bengal is one state where it is known that Community development blocks are co-terminus with Tehsils. 

In general, it is all very confusing. Anyone who knows better can shed some light here.

In Karnataka, we have revenue administration and which are taken. for all the references'

District: looked after and headed by Deputy Commissioner

Sub-Dsitrict: which combines two or more taluks and is headed by Assistant Commissioner

Taluks: which are Headed by Tahasildar

Hobli: this is the unit where number of villages and gram panchayats are put together, at this level generally we have Grade-II tahasildar and here we also have NAADA Kacheri (means local office of revenue department)

Gram Panchayats: here one or more than one villages constitute one gram panchayat depending upon the population and area

Villages: these are the smallest unit of local revenue units.
