Railway zones map

Hi,

Indian Railways publishes Annual Statistical statements http://www.indianrailways.gov.in/railwayboard/view_section.jsp?lang=0&id=0,1,304,366,554,1817,1822, in its 16 Zone level. There seems no usable GIS file on Railway zonal map, apart from a Wikipedia image https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b1/Indianrailwayzones-numbered.png. This image was georeferenced, digitised and uploaded here https://github.com/nishadhka/railways/blob/master/zones.json. Due to issues with the digitisation process, the quality of polygons needs to be improved. Requesting sharing of the original shape file if any available. 

In search of this found following useful resources related to Indian Railways

1. Indian Railway Fan club- for a note on Indian Raiwlay zones https://www.irfca.org/faq/faq-geog.html
1. Indian Railway API- http://api.erail.in/, gives comprehensive API on current status of train 
1. Indian Railway Geoportal- An upcoming geoprotal

Thanks for making efforts to mark the zones.

Earlier, I  found the following railway map useful
https://indiarailinfo.com/atlas (their source is OpenStreetMap ?)

Here is a Survey of India map (JPG) including zones (made ugly with their watermark, but still authentic)

OSM is just used as a basemap, the zone data and even all stations have not yet been mapped on OSM. Indiarailinfo has a huge community so i
m guessing the data was crowdsourced from them, if someone contacts them they might be open to releasing vectors.

@Sahikumar, @ArunGanesh Many thanks for the links. I guess the Indian Railway Info atlas zone is to be representation of polygons based on track and stations included in each zones.

Did anyone find shapefiles or Tableau map for the zonal railways?
