Hello,

Does anyone know where the National TUS 2024 raw data is shared?
I can't find it in the usual sites: microdata or MoSPI sites.

Thanks,
Vaidya

Hi,
Here it says that the final report will be released on 31st March: https://mospi.gov.in/sites/default/files/Advance_Release_Calendar_16082024.pdf
So maybe the data comes after that.

Best,
Balasurya S

The microdata has not been released yet. MoSPI typically takes a few weeks post the release of the report to make the microdata public.

Thanks. It's out now.
I have converted the text files to csv and pulled out major cities specifically.

Thanks,
Vaidya

Hi Vaidya

I tried downloading the household and person csv files front he link that you provided but I got a 404 error in both the cases.... Could you please correct that perhaps?

Also, can you please post the code that you used for converting txt to csv?

Thanks and regards.

Yours sincerely

Hi,

Sorry about that.
Please use "Download" and "DOWNLOAD" (all caps) in the dropdown, not CSV.
Hope that helps.

I'll add the code to git and share it soon.

Thanks,
Vaidya

Also, I was able to download the HH csv file by clicking the DOWNLOAD button in caps. But when i do that for the person file, it downloads a zip file which contains the raw txt file. Am I missing something?

Thanks and regards.

Any idea where to get the district and region names from? I could find a code file for regions and districts even in the original micro data link...

Thanks and regards.

I have neatly compiled the state, region, subregion, and district names and codes into the attached excel file. It is easier to work with this kind of a file rather than the pdf version when working with microdata, especially when one needs to merge files.

Thanks and regards.
