COVID-19 Vaccination centres data for Karnataka/Bengaluru?

Hi all, 

Has anyone come across a dataset that contains all the vaccination centres currently operational in the state of Karnataka or even Bengaluru? I've found some websites with pieces of information, but didn't come across a full list. Any leads will be awesome!

Hi.

The GOI released a list of private hospitals under PMJAY and CGHS schemes that would function as Covid Vaccine Centres (CVCs). The data is linked in this press release. Here's a quick interactive to filter them by state/district.

However, I am unsure how many of these are actually functioning as CVCs and if there are more facilities that have also enrolled.

MapMyIndia offers a map as well with COVID related facilities. I am unsure of what's the source of their underlying data and how they're going about updating it - couldn't find it on the page.

I will look into the what the situation is in terms of updations and enrolment, but this in itself helps a ton. I had read in passing about MapMyIndia's work, but will give it a closer look this time, thanks for sending me this too.

Hi. Could anyone guide me to the source on how to build  such portals ? I liked the portal which was shared by Rajesvari. The portal looks fairly interactive and seems to serve the purpose well.

Hello Bodhisattwa,

To quickly answer your question, while there seem to be none on the PMJAY list for the states mentioned, there might be CGHS facilities (second tab of the interactive) that can function as CVCs in these states. You will see that there are about 36 facilities in Jaipur and 7 in Kolkata (The CGHS facilities' locations were missing in the dataset, hence used a separate view. CGHS - CVCs map only shows a count at the city level, not facility location).

Another thing to mention, while the press release (which is about 2 months old now) states that about 10,000 PMJAY facilities can function as CVCs, the excel sheet linked in it only lists about 8,000 facilities.

(Thinking out loud from here:)

There might also be private facilities empanelled under State Health Insurance Schemes which might have also enrolled to function as CVCs (hence obviously not on the earlier list).

By no means the list shared above is a comprehensive list of all actually functioning CVCs. In fact, as per the cowin dashboard, there are about 59,600 vaccination sites operational as of today. Of which, only about 8% (5,300) are private facilities. 

With the upcoming changes in vaccine procurement, the list (and the map I shared) might only become more irrelevant going forward. We will have to see.

Sure. Tableau Public is free and offers a decent 10GB storage per account. Their resources page should help you get started. A bunch of useful resources here as well. Doesn't require any coding as such to build most of the visuals. Should be fairly simple to pick up if you are someone who generally works with data tables quite a bit.
