Hi

I'm looking for population data by geography, ideally at the pincode level. Is this data readily available, perhaps through census or similar sources?

Please let me know if such data is available at whatever granularity possible.

Thanks,
Sarabjeet

Tehsil level population information is available from the 2011 census.

However, are there more recent data sources from which this information can be compiled?

Sarabjeet

Facebook's HRSL data is available at 30m resolution. You can aggregate at the Pincode level if you have the boundaries.

The HRSL data is a great resource, but is not yet available for India. [see downloads]

Hi

Thanks for sharing.

This has population data for India from 2000-2020. Not sure if this is the HSRL data, but looked like it.

Is there any documentation available for this or any source for reference?

Information on Facebook’s Population Density Maps shared on Humanitarian Data Exchange is available here, along with the methodology

Thanks for the link, Ujaval.

The data is clubbed with other South East Asain nations and made available by the facebook team at humdata (I am not sure why the same doesn't reflect in the AWS datastore).
[see the links link1, link2, link3, link4].

Last I checked, it was not available for the north-eastern states of India.
