Dear All,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to request your assistance in obtaining data on unemployment from two sources - PLFS (Periodic Labour Force Survey) and NSSO (National Sample Survey Office). As I am currently working on a research project related to employment trends in India, these data sets would be invaluable to my analysis.

The PLFS and NSSO data on unemployment are crucial for my research, as they provide comprehensive and nationally representative information on employment patterns, trends, and dynamics in India. They would greatly enhance my analysis's rigor and validity, allowing me to draw meaningful conclusions and insights for my work.

I am looking for a single repository of these data sources. Kindly help me with how to obtain that.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and support. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or require further information.

Warm regards,
Kaibalya

Hi Kaibalya

For employment and unemployment data you can see the link that Chris has posted on this thread.

This data has been downloaded directly from the MOSPI website. However, the txt files are not directly usable and need some processing. The folder named 'Processing PLFS Data' contains replication files on how to use this data in both Stata and R.

Thanks and regards.

Yours sincerely

Hi Kaibalya

You are welcome.

I assume you work with socioeconomic data on a routine basis. I have tried my best to put together several such data sets on India here on my website that you may find useful:
