Hi All,

I am planning to do my research on Indian Railways, optimizing delays in networks and its impact on schedules of trains.
I am looking for datasets on individual schedules of trains as well as the route network, which will have details with scenarios where two trains are looking to occupy same platform/track at the same time along with data on all possible alternative routes like main or chord line etc.I plan to generate initial population of schedules using this data and proceed accordingly.
This is just a starter,if anybody is willing to help please share the contact details.

Thanks & Regards
Shyamal Banerjee

Hi Shiv,
I have looked at this repo earlier. This gives me data on trains, schedules and stations.
But,just by looking at schedules of individual trains I am wondering how it is possible to optimize the scheduling without getting the data on route network.
I have spoken to the owner of the repo https://github.com/datameet/railways but he doesn't have the bandwidth to collaborate on the same.
Is anybody here interested to work with me on this?We can discuss on the terms and conditions later on.

Thanks and Regards,
Shyamal Banerjee.

IIT Bombay has a group that works on railway scheduling and they work with Indian railways on making schedules. In fact, they have worked on creating a completely new schedule without any constraints when all the trains were grounded during covid.

The sad state of affairs is that they don't even use version control for managing their code. I have tried to engage with them to push them to use github and make their work reproducible to some extent, but I wasn't successful.

Some information about their work and link a some version of the code are available from:
