Dear All,
We are very happy to announce the publication of the Protected Area
Updates Database (1994-2023), an online resource that brings together
all the information in the PA Update for the last 3 decades.
The database has 4400+ news stories covering more than 300 PAs from
across the country.
Pls access here:
https://pau-database.kalpavriksh.org/
The database has been created by the Environment and Ecology Research
Group (EERG) at the Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas
(C-TARA), IIT Bombay and is a collaborative project of Kalpavriksh,
Foundation for Ecological Security, The Duleep Mathai Nature
Conservation Trust, C-TARA IIT Bombay and the GISE Hub, IIT Bombay
The database is an outcome of a project titled 'Geo-Spatial Mapping of
28 years of media reporting on livelihoods and wildlife conservation in
India' (RD/0122-GISIR00-002) supported financially by Department of
Science & Technology, Government of India through the GISE Hub at IIT
Bombay.
We hope this is an useful resource and look forward to your comments,
critiques, feedback and suggestions. This is a work in progress and we
shall be happy to hear from you. Pls do certainly let us know if there
are glitches, errors or how we can improve this.
Thanks to all those who have contributed to this database over the years
and the team that put it together.
Many thanks
