We are seeking an experienced Tandem Tester (HP NonStop Tester) to validate, test, and ensure the reliability of applications running on the Tandem/HP NonStop platform. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in functional testing, system integration testing, defect management, and working knowledge of core NonStop components. This role involves close collaboration with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Perform functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing on Tandem/HP NonStop systems.
Develop, maintain, and execute manual and automated test cases/scripts for Tandem applications.
Validate application logic, data flows, and system interactions running on TACL, TAL, SCOBOL, COBOL, SQL/Enscribe.
Work with Pathway, Guardian OS, and BASE24 (if applicable) for transaction validation.
Analyze logs, files, job outputs, and system responses on the NonStop environment.
Identify, document, and track defects using standard defect tracking tools (JIRA, ALM, etc.).
Collaborate with development and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and support root-cause analysis.
Ensure testing aligns with business requirements, performance needs, and compliance norms.
Participate in test planning, requirement discussions, and UAT support.
Provide testing reports, status updates, and metrics to stakeholders.
Skills Required
Technical Skills
Strong experience with Tandem/HP NonStop systems.
Working knowledge of:
TACL
Tandem COBOL / SCOBOL
TAL / pTAL
Pathway
Guardian OS
Enscribe & SQL/MP / SQL/MX
Experience testing high-volume, real-time transaction systems.
Hands-on experience with:
File and message validation
Job outputs
System logs
Transaction tracing
Knowledge of BASE24 or payments/ATM testing (optional but highly preferred).
Experience with test automation frameworks for Tandem (if applicable).
Familiarity with UNIX/Linux for log analysis (nice to have).
QA / Testing Skills
Strong experience in:
Functional testing
Integration testing
Regression testing
System testing
Ability to write detailed test cases, test scripts, and execution plans.
Experience with testing tools (JIRA, HP ALM/QC, Zephyr, etc.).
Understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile methodologies.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
Ability to work in cross-functional, fast-paced environments.
Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
4–10 years of experience testing on Tandem/HP NonStop.
Experience in Banking, Payments, Cards, or ATM switch environments.
Prior experience with BASE24 testing is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
