Dear all,

I will plan to attend this
JISC MRD workshop to represent the DataFlow Project. I am delighted by the progress you were able to make at the recent DataFlow hackathon. It would be very good if I was able to take news of a fully functional deployable DataStage + DataBank to the workshop on 29th and 30th November.

Best wishes,

David

To all JISCMRD Infrastructure Projects,

On 13 August, I announced a date for your diary for a programme workshop to help projects with the benefits and evidence gathering work. As a result of some of the challenges of managing budgets during the JISC transition, there has been an unavoidable delay in proceeding with the organisation of this workshop.

However, I am now able to confirm that this event *WILL* be taking place. Subject to final arrangements, this workshop will happen on Thu 29 - Fri 30 November, almost certainly in Bristol.

It will be a programme requirement for all seventeen RDM infrastructure projects http://www.jisc.ac.uk/whatwedo/programmes/di_researchmanagement/managingresearchdata/infrastructure.aspx to send one project representative to this workshop.

This will be a participatory workshop for those projects to discuss progress in gathering and presenting evidence of the benefits of their work. It presents a valuable opportunity for projects to share approaches and to work closely with the MRD Evidence Gatherers. Projects will be asked to present an overview of their work: what benefits have been identified and what evidence will be gathered. Projects will be able to discuss this work with others, to consider some of the challenges involved and to share ideas for achieving these important objectives with the support of the MRD Programme Evidence Gatherers and Programme Manager.

Please remember, the JISCMRD Evidence Gatherers are here to help. Check out Laura Molloy's excellent blog post, Evidence Gathering: the field guide at http://mrdevidence.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2012/08/30/284/ for an overview!

All projects have been asked to identify a set of benefits which will be achieved and then to work with the Evidence Gatherers to consider how these benefits may best be substantiated. The workshop at the end of November will be a chance to troubleshoot these activities and to help projects tackle this work in an appropriate, realistic and tractable way. Please be clear that the objective of this exercise is to make the necessary task of providing evidence of benefits targeted and proportionate.

Further details of the workshop will follow as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Simon.
