Hello everybody,

I want to configure Datafari 3.2.1 where local users of the Ubuntu machine can login to Datafari and search for their files in the Ubuntu machine.

So, I have two Linux Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS machines,
  • one machine, called "VMDatafari",  that has Datafari installed to let users search their files
  • one machine, called "VMFileServer" that has Samba installed to be indexed by the Datafari
In "VMFileServer", I have some folders and files that must be indexed by Datafari. Furthermore, I have installed Samba and gave access to the local users to the created shared folders.
In "VMDatafari", I have configured Datafari to index the shared folders. It has indexed every document in the Ubuntu machine "VMFileServer". (I have verified by the Simple History)

But my problem now is, how can local user from "VMFileServer" connect to the Datafari and get access to their files ?

In both Ubuntu machines it doesn't exist an LDAP connection or Active Directory.

Can anybody help me to solve my problem, please ?

Hello,

In order to do that easily you have to configure a LDAP or an AD connection in MCF indeed. So the security will be active automatically on your files and the users are connected on Datafari thanks to the AD/LDAP connection.
Otherwise you have two solutions :
- add specific security tokens on the files that you want to protect and configure an Authority connector on ManifoldCF with the tokens associated per user
- disable the security on your files but everyone can access all the files

Best regards,

Olivier

Hello,

OK, so I must only create a LDAP/AD in the server.

Thanks a lot

Best Regards
