The following is the chart of the International Phonetic Alphabet, a standardized system of phonetic symbols devised and maintained by the International Phonetic Association. It is not a complete list of all possible speech sounds in the world's languages, only those about which stand-alone articles exist in this encyclopedia.

This chart gives a partial system of diaphonemes for English. The symbols for the diaphonemes are given in bold, followed by their most common phonetic values. For the vowels, a separate phonetic value is given for each major dialect, and words used to name corresponding lexical sets are also given. The diaphonemes and lexical sets given here are based on RP and General American; they are not sufficient to express all of the distinctions found in other dialects, such as Australian English.

Thank you so much, this is such a gripe of mine. I also made up my own charts, partly to make the alphabet book we make with the children. That way they have a consistant reference. I totally agree with Ii. We are using itchy which has a nice action to use and is very familiar (especially after chicken pox went through and with all the mozzies at the moment!).

I totally agree with you, which is why I avoid the whole alphabet charts. I also get annoyed with color charts, since they often have green triangle (well sure, the triangle could be green, or it could be yellow, blue, pink or polka dots). I also have concerns with shape charts.

This alphabet chart displays unique illustrations for each letter and sound, including the multiple sounds some letters can make. You will also find the digraphs 'ch', 'll' and 'rr' included in this chart. This chart can be displayed in your classroom, and matches Las cartas de ABC en español that can be used when working within the Alphabet Knowledge activities in the daily lessons.

The phonetic alphabet is a special alphabet used by the US Army and other Military branches. The main purpose of the phonetic alphabet is to provide a clearer way of spelling out words or using any letters or numbers in general, over a radio or other communications device.

Numbers in the phonetic alphabet also have their own pronunciations. Most of them are pronounced as you normally would, a few, however, are modified to provide a clearer sound definition. Pay close attention to the pronunciation of each phonetic number below:

Thank you so much for this wonderful resource. I just got a job teaching 1st grade, which is kind of out of my comfort zone. I bought one of your packs, and was so excited about this letter chart, but really wanted the lines for letter formation. Here it is!! Thank you thank you thank you!

The Korean alphabet pronunciation shares a lot of similarities with the English alphabet. That makes it easy to learn because you can use the pronunciation of English letters to learn the Korean alphabet pronunciation.

The first Hangul chart is the Korean consonants chart. Next to each of the consonants is the Romanized spelling for that particular consonant. The spelling changes depending on whether the consonants are positioned at the start or the end of the syllable.

The German alphabet consists of 26 letters the same as the English alphabet (though x and y are rarely used) plus four additional letters. These four special letters are ß (called Eszett or Sharp S) and the umlauted vowels ä, ö, and ü.

It should also be noted that the lowercase letter s had two different forms depending on its environment. These forms are shown in the Lowercase letters chart below and their usage is explained on their respective letter pages.

The charts below display all the letters of the German alphabet, lowercase and uppercase, and the numbers 1 to 10. Each letter is shown first in English (Latin), then Gothic Handwriting, and then in Gothic Typeface, or Fraktur.

1. Trim your large piece of felt to the size you want for the entire chart, allowing an extra 1 1/2 inches where ever you want to make ties. To make the ties use a ruler to trace off two 1/2 inch ties, as shown in the photo. Use your scissors to cut along the lines to form your ties.

2. Cut out the pocket squares: I made mine 3 1/4 to fit the Memory Cards but before you cut, be sure that your chart is big enough to accommodate whatever size pockets you choose along with space between each pocket. Also be sure to take care of the surface you are cutting on, a self healing mat helps guard your table or countertop. I found it easiest to 3 1/4 wide strips using my rotary cutter, then using scissors I cut off a 3 1/4 inch square from the first strip and used that as my template to quickly cut each one. You could also make a cardboard template if you like.

4. Lay out your chart and arrange all the pockets where you want them before you start gluing. Pick up your first pocket and add a line of hot glue as close to the bottom and side edges as you can and place it back where you want it. Repeat for each pocket until you are done. Once the glue dries you are done! Tie it onto your easel, baby gate or slit holes to hook it onto the wall!

There are 26 letters in the English alphabet. The chart and table below introduces their position, pronunciation, name and the NATO phonetic alphabet, which you may have heard in war movies or during phone calls to clarify spelling.

Even though each letter in the English alphabet has a certain sound, when combined with other letters, this sound can change. Learning these variations will really help you improve your pronunciation and sound like a native speaker.

Secret tip: Stick it to the backside of your toilet door! You can also put the chart in your pocket and take a look at it every time you find the time! For example, during your coffee break!

The ASL alphabet is an essential and foundational part of American Sign Language. If you want to be able to sign with Deaf friends, colleagues, or family members, you definitely have to learn more than the alphabet.

This is a very common question! No, the Sign Language alphabet is not international. As with spoken languages, there are also many different sign languages around the world and, thus, many different sign alphabets as well.

You can add text to a chart that includes Greek letters and special characters using TeX markup. You also can use TeX markup to add superscripts, subscripts, and modify the text type and color. By default, MATLAB supports a subset of TeX markup. To use additional special characters, such as integral and summation symbols, you can use LaTeX markup instead. This example shows how to insert Greek letters, superscripts, and annotations into chart text and explains other available TeX options.
