Hello all,

What might cause my symbol of a bed, 2-D only, with all dashed lines, to change from
a Line Spacing of 1 to 384? I did not enlarge when inserted. It is created at full size with
1" dashed line spacing. I can interrogate the symbol properties and change from 384 to 1 and the dash
line type reappears.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hi Christopher,

This one has been around almost forever.  I am not sure what changes the spacing of the symbol, or when you would ever use it.

And I don't know if there is a way to change / avoid it.

Neil,

Thanks. Good to know it is a bug and not a feature. At least I know I can alter the variable and get the dashes back.

Subject: DBUG> Unable to use DC18 or DC20
From: David Haynes
Date: Apr 2

Fellow Debuggers,

For some time now I have been unavailable to work in either DC19 or DC20, because my Edit and Utility menus disappear.  This all happened when I got a Win10 update, about the time that I had loaded DC19.  The only fix I have found that works for me was to revert back to DC18, which has been stable with no issues.

Has anyone experienced this, and if so did you find a fix?

TIA,

David

After all of these years, you'd have thought that I might already know the answers to my question, but I don't.  I have been a user since version 4. Question... are the pen table settings in the print/plot dialog global or in certain instances be specific? Say can a GTV , clip cube or X-ref each have their own custom pen table? Color denotes pen width but not scale dependent.? Thanks all. Wish Cheap tricks was still around.

Hi David,

There are several ways to do this - one is in MultiScale Plotting, if
you use Scale To Pen, you can assign different Pen Tables to plot
scales.  So, small scale details can get lighter pens, and large details
can get darker pens.  You can also make some lines "disappear" at scales
that would be muddied up, by having some color lines plot to Pen 0.

Another way, using symbols is to have layers in the symbols toggle on /
off depending on the scale.

A third way is to use Highlighting in XRef's, to "remap" layers or the
whole XRef to different colors / linetype.

DBUG> Batch plotting
From: Oran Woody
Date: Apr 2

I am trying to batch plot at my home computer and I get a series of separate plot files. At the office computer, my batch plot comes as a single file.

I seem to recall having that problem when batch plotting first became available and it was easily solved with some toggle in the program. I needed it only that one time and it's worked correctly since then.
I'd like to be able to fix my problem here that easily, but I've looked and looked and haven't figured out where the toggle is located.

Has anyone else bumped into that and do you know what the answer is?

Thanks,
Woody

Maybe you are plotting to a smarter PDF driver.

I use PDFill Tools to make a single file.

I thought you could take your MSP sheet export the whole sheet to a ACAD user and they would have all of those layers ready to modify.  When I export I use the "only on layers" button and all I get is what layers are on before I go to the plot/print screen.

Is it impossible to send your MSP sheet as a .dwg?  Or do I have to put all layers on, export it as .dwg and they have to sort out my different sheet layers to get the sheet right ? (with a .pdf copy).
I need some help to explain how to do this or direct me where to go.

Thank you very much,

Hi Scott,

The first step to do this is to open the MSP sheet, and select Bind One or Bind All, and then select the "master scale" for each sheet.  This makes each MSP Detail into a symbol, and each MSP sheet is put onto a new layer.  Make that layer Active Only - and then do the Export / On Layers, to get a DWG of each drawing sheet.

The MSP sheet is a DataCad plotting procedure that is made up of GTVs. I don't think you can export the sheet, but you can export the GTVs that are in it, as individual DWGs, followed by a PDF of the plot so that the recipient knows what it is supposed to look like.

I think this business depends very much on just what you want to export, and also what the receiver is supposed to do with it.  I think it is simplest and indeed the most courteous to save the job as a new files which are exclusively for export.  The above might sound tedious but it enables you to omit stuff that is irrelevant to the recipient, and also simplify things a lot, like one-layer GTVs etc. The worst that can happen is that some layers may get duplicated. I don't think the other guy will notice

The last thing you want to do is have them sort your stuff out - and blame you when they get it wrong, as they surely will.

Debuggers,

I too have been unable to check on updates, this has been going on for some time now.

Along with the Edit and Utility menus going away, and not being able to use DC19 or DC20 because of this, it's aggravating.

Hi David,

The way, then to get updates is to go to DataCAD's web site:

Download these, and run them to update v19 and v20.

Hi David,

That is a weird one.  Do you have the Toolbars Locked, or Unlocked?  I
don't think it is Win10, as I use it here at home, and many others use
it as well.

Are you running as Administrator?

Hi David,

The only other thing I can think of to do, is to use CCleaner on the
Registry, and see if that corrects it.
