If to do it the old fashioned way. One person taught me to go through
the program and learn a command a day. Keep playing with it until you
have it down. Then the next day take time to learn another. The build
it at 0 z-height and flip it up and copy works for me before there was
even a an o2c in DataCAD. It's nice to have 3D power tools especially
if you want model moldings and things like that. The one that no one
has mentioned is the "NORMALS" macro since in DataCAD 3d it's all
polygons really, and they have a side. That one is real simple to use.
The roof tools doesn't do me that much good as we have lots of built
up roofs with exposed rafters and things like that.
I was mainly mentioning the things I did so DataCAD LLC might be able
to get new customers instead of relying on an old customer base.
That's why a quick video on YouTube and/or slide shows which are much
easier to edit just to show the capabilities of DataCAD if nothing
else. I even have an o2c model you can play with, but email me off
forum for that. All you have to do is import it back in to DataCAD.

I have version 2.6 of Roof Builder Tools and see on CheapTricks that
the current one available is ver 3.5.
Can anyone tell me what enhancements or improvements were made from
what I have to the current one?
Just wondering if I am missing some good stuff or not.

I never had version 2.6, so I am not sure what was in it before. I
think we first sold vers. 3.1, so here is the release notes of what
changed after that to 3.5:
Rev. Notes:
v.3.5 fix. Removed "Demo/Evaluation Copy" mislabel and stated need
for
PIN.
Sep 13 99
v.3.4 bug fix. Macro name has been changed from "RFTools" to
"RBTools". Manual still refers to it as "RFTools".
5/19/99: BuildWall module has been updated to correct previous bug
with Z heights of walls.
I will e-mail you via separate message the full DOC file so that you
can compare it with your version notes.
Thanks,
Evan

This movie shows methods to create a 3D contour site from DataCAD. I
have also added cutting a void in the site using the Boolean tool.

I just use Curved Leader Arrows in DH Text. They kick ass.
BTW: It's faster to R&R a bad arrow than to dick around with
manipulating one of any flavor.

>>>I'm still suspect of these "BIM" programs doing everything. At least not yet.<>>
You know David but for any who may not have given thought to 'BIM',
it's inclusion in an application shouldn't be taken as an indication
that the application does everything or tries to.
So-called 'BIM' is very much a growing thing with all intending
applications incorporating it at different levels of depth of
incorporation. None would have it coordinating everything perhaps even
most of their workings. These applications still often have very
respectable tools for the creation and manipulation of material that
could not be classed as 'BIM' material.
For example, while some may permit partial automation of notes most
don't and none use that as an exclusive method of adding notes to a
drawing. All to my knowledge let you create and edit dumb entities
(like lines) and with those capacities, many routines only involving
them are also included. 'BIM', the term, is used to indicate that an
application is capable of insinuating an amount of self-knowledge and
ability to carry information in digital elements which represent real
world elements or capability. In knowing something of what makes
itself a component and of its connections or connectivity it is able
to be used and to inform other users and other applications with its
awareness and associated information throughout the existence or
memory of that which it represents.
Not a dictionary definition, perhaps a general indication.
As all applications with 'BIM' monikers are at different levels of
implementation, the usefulness in connectivity also varies. This is a
thing which grows, is growing and will grow increasingly rapidly.
However, even small capability for this representation can be useful.
It can also not interfere in any way with other implementations which
a CAD application may have that do not have this self-knowledge or
capability to carry unitized, upgradeable and automatically
distributed information.
In the light that 'BIM' need not have any effect upon a traditional
CAD jockey's current work, how could the capability to include where
desirable be anything but a positive?

I cheat, having already used the pending update as basis for an
exemption.
The Revised California Green Building Code - edited and with editorial
comment
(For accompaniment, please play the 1970's hit single "Feels so Good"
or the flip side "Maui Waui".)
"modified to remove any reference to the State Storm water NPDES
[National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System] Construction Permit
99-08- DWQ" - Whoops, huge chunks of the state are exempt from the
NPDES.
"provide permanently anchored bicycle racks within 200 feet of the
visitors' entrance, readily visible to passers-by"
AKA bicycle thieves
" potential threats to public safety due to inadequate site
illumination. "
The lawsuit named individual commissioners.
"Compliance is demonstrated by preparation of a project specific Cx
Plan...
The dilution and decline of Building Commissioning has been set.
"ENVIRONMENTAL COMFORT Acoustical control."
Incredibly silly parts were removed.
"Design and maintain landscape irrigation systems to prevent spray on
structures."
Out here, we are just that stupid.
Ted
