Can someone help me with some advice?"
I'm trying to install an old DataCad version 11 on a relatively new Windows 10 machine. The program keeps saying it can't find HLVDD.DLL. I've tried loading the newest driver I can find (HLDRV32) but that has not worked. Is this .DLL file something that failed to load on the original installation? Is there somewhere I can download it, and where would I place this file? I'm sure I'm using the version 11 dongle.
Does anyone have any knowledge on this, or can clue me in on a work-around? I'm completely lost and frustrated!!
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi Pete,
There may be several issues - you may need to do a custom installation,
and change the default location to C:\DataCAD 11. (Some older versions
of DataCAD installed to C:\Program Files by default.)
You probably need to get the latest hardlock driver installer:
It is also possible that DataCAD 11 won't work in Windows 10? DataCAD 11
is at least 15 years old, and Windows XP was the newest version, at the
time. I was still using Windows 2000, and only switched to WinXP after
SP2 came out.

Hi Pete. You aren't going to have any joy in running 11 on Win 10. Even if you get the hardlock driver to work, there are other issues that are not patched (and will not be) and will be a total show stopper (best I can remember is the program just crashing and closing when you tried using Layer Manager or some other features {plotting maybe??} - don't remember what else for sure, but it will crash...)
Datacad LLC released a patch only for Versions 16 and up.

Not the advice you wanted, but why not just buy the new version. It does so much more, easier to work with, and lets the guys back at the HQ make a little income. Good grief; V11? Dongle? That's so 2003!
