I can not seem to find an answer in the manual for:

I have developed a plan - in that plan I have "groups" of items - like a bed is one group - cloths hanging in one closet are a group - etc

When I take the entire plan by area and want to drag and copy the result is that the new plan tends to want to link many of the "groups" together. This makes editing the plan very difficult and time consuming. Is there a toggle somewhere in the program that will simply keep "groups" as they start out?

Did you try toggling off “Keep Groups” at S8 in the Copy menu?

Select the Keep Groups button. That will solve your problem.

I think there is a setting of "keep Groups" either in the Dcadwin.ini file, while you are copying the option will appear.

Are you sure you are not in fact moving the groups you created ?
Pan out so your whole plan is visible and IDENTIFY one of the Groups - If the others also become highlighted you have created a group of groups and the Area Move has done what it was supposed to.

You can always UN-group to remedy the issue

You can deselect any entity, group or are by holding down the shift key while "deselecting". I think it came out in 12, but, requires an ini change (maybe) try it or see the revision history for instructions.

Skipp,

When you get to the point of selecting by area, look at the bottom of
the menu -

Toggle "keep groups" and you get what you want.
