Dear Neeraj Sir & Group Members,

I read Sunita ma`am's email regarding bootstrap and its usage when we don't know regarding the distribution of our sample.

I would like to know if we can use bootstrap in small sample for better result testing in SEM. Is bootstrap a solution to small sample size in SEM?

Thanks & Regards,
Nitika Sharma

Dear Nitika
Since you've given reference of Sunita Mam so I assumed your query is for Time Series data.
SPSS, AMOS or SMartPLS can't handle Time Series data.

If you're working on Cross-sectional data then you shd refer to KNO Value in the case of CFA and SEM (in AMOS). Though a sample of 100 with 30 statements seems a small sample for SEM in AMOS. SmartPLS is quite ok with this dataset. Bootstrapping help in small samples.

Best wishes

Protocols of this Group:

1. Plz search previous post in group before posing the question.
2. Don't write query in someone's post. Always use the option of New topic for the new question. You can do this by writing to dataanalysistraining@googlegroups.com
3. Its better to give a proper subject to your post/query. It'll help others while searching.
4. Never write Open ended queries. This group intend to help research scholars NOT FOR WORK THEM.
5. Never write words like URGENT in ur posts. People will help them when they are free.
6. Never upload any info about National Seminars/Conferences. Send such info on personal emails. And feel free to share any RESEARCH related info.
7. No Happy New Year, Happy Diwali, Happy Holi, Happy B'day, Happy Anniversary etc. allowed on this group.
8. Few months back there was a facility for asking & sharing the Research Papers. Now there is no provision of asking for the research paper here.

Let’s make a better research environment.

Sir
To add more on bootstrapping one must see how many subsamples one must take for initial solutions.

As per Dr Ringle one must test the structural  model on 500 bootstrapping samples. Once the model validates and reliablilities are established then one should go for minimum of 2000 subsample to 5000 bootstrapping subsample selections to get the desired results.

Moreover bootstrapping is a tool to measure only hypothesis testing by t test in PLS SEM.

For a 100 respondents 2000 bootstrapping subsamples will be fine

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your reply. I still have a little confusion. Kindly guide.

My study is on consumer behavior and sample size is 100 respondents for 30 questions, which is less as per the thumb rule. Now, can I use bootstrapping for better results? Will there be a change in model fitness?

Thanks & Regards,
Nitika Sharma

Dear Nikita

The rule for sample size selection is to see your largest construct and then see how many indicators are attached to it.

Multiply those indicators with 10 .
This will be your minimum sample size.
Higher than this value will improve the model further.

Take care

Do respond if you have further doubts
