Dear Neeraj Sir,

Please find below my research summary and guide best tools.

My research topic is “Integration of Theory of Constraints, Lean and Six Sigma Tools: Analytical Application in the Manufacturing Sector”. The three approaches are complementary and it is feasible to evaluate the integration between the three approaches.

Objective

  1. To analyze the points of convergence and divergence between the three approaches when used with a view to continuous improvement of processes in Indian manufacturing systems and to broaden the understanding of their fundamental principles,
  2. To explore the possible benefits of integrating the Theory of Constraints, Lean and Six sigma paradigms into a comprehensive framework.

2.1. To explore the possible benefits of the Theory of Constraints paradigm into a comprehensive framework.

2.2. To explore the possible benefits of Lean manufacturing paradigm into a comprehensive framework.

2.3.  To explore the possible benefits of Six sigma paradigm into a comprehensive framework.

3.      To analyze the  financial  gains  of  combining  Lean,  Six  Sigma  and  TOC. Profits would be useful to really determine and validate the benefits of an integrated approach.

The study seems to demand an action-based research. The research strategy will accompany an empirical study to fulfill the purpose of this research and also employ the exploratory method till the objectives and hypothesis are being framed and thereafter uses the descriptive research technique for developing a viable theoretical framework.

The sample size for the study will be five car manufacturing organization and each individual employee of quality department in the manufacturing sector shall be the sampling unit, where very limited employees. The proposed sample size for the study is 50 i.e. 10 respondents from each car manufacturers.

The data will be collected through a self-developed survey questionnaire.  It will gather practical information from the sample organizations on the following subset questionnaire:

                                       A ⸦ B ⸦ C ⸦ D ⸦ E

Where, A: Questionnaire for Worker

B: Questionnaire for Foremen or Supervisors

C: Questionnaire for Engineers and Technicians

D: Questionnaire for Middle management

E: Questionnaire for Top management.
