Constructing a Conceptual Framework using Interpretive Structure Modeling (ISM)

Dear Friends

When scholars start the review of the literature and try to make a model for their study, they have 2 choices- either to make a theoretical framework or a conceptual framework.

Expert opinion is used for a conceptual framework and Interpretive Structure Modeling (ISM) is a wonderful technique that provides a robust methodology for constructing such a framework.

Dear Friends

After constructing the SSIM, the next step is to make the Reachability Matrix.

This is done by first creating the Initial Reachability Matrix and then using the rule of transitivity to make the Final Reachability Matrix. I've explained these steps in this video:

After learning the basics of ISM, a million-dollar question is which software to use for doing all such calculations.

One answer is the R-Studio package ISM which is developed by Dr. Adarsh Anand and Dr. Gunjan Bansal.

Both of the authors have also written a paper Interpretive structural modeling for attributes of software quality by Adarsh Anand, Gunjan Bansal, (2017)
