Dear All,

I’m Karan, a Ph.D. Scholar at IIM Ahmedabad. I am inviting you to participate in this
online research survey to understand how COVID-19 has impacted the menstrual health of
menstruators
. Your responses will help us understand menstrual health during the emergency

The survey can be accessed at the following link

You are eligible to participate in the survey if you’re a menstruator who is 18 years or older.
The survey will take around 10 minutes to complete. Please note that there are no right or
wrong answers. Your participation is voluntary. All questions are optional, and you may skip
questions you do not wish to answer. I assure you that the information gathered is for academic
purposes and will not identify you in any way. There are no known risks to participation. Your
responses will remain confidential and anonymous with the highest standards of research
ethics

You have been informed about this study’s purpose and procedures. There are no foreseeable
risks or benefits for participating in this study. By filling the survey, you give us consent to
participate in the research study.

If you have any questions about the study, you can contact me at phd17...@iima.ac.in. I am also available on Twitter at https://twitter.com/KaranBabbar19. I will be sharing the results of my research on my official Twitter handle.

Hello Karan,
Greetings of the day. It's a very interesting study. Only a single suggestion which might be of help in the study- an average age of 12 years is when a girl starts mensurating (you can support this with relevant literature, if any, to justify the same). If you get your window open for those age group girls too, it might get you more relevant data since they are the ones who see this natural process in a more challenging way as compared to the 18years and above as we get a lot hack of it in all these years.

Not much aware of your current study's objectives but I am little curious as you clearly mentioned that only those are eligible for this study who are mensurators "if you’re a menstruator who is 18 years or older" Which is not the case. Either you should clearly mention your choosen sample as it might raise questions. Hope it helps.

Regards

Dear Ritika,

Thank you for your reply.

To address your first question, the sample is restricted to menstruators who are 18 years or above. We need parental consent for the girls who are 18 years or less, and getting such permission in online studies is difficult. Additionally, for girls in that age group, significant decision-makers (in terms of buying pads, etc.) are their parents, and hence, many of the questions may not be apt for them.

Secondly, you raise a question on the Menstruators. Menstruator is a gender-neutral term used for people who menstruate. This survey is open to anyone (a) who is 18 years and above (b) who menstruates, and hence, the word Menstruator is used.

I hope this clears your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Best Regards,
Karan Babbar
