Respected Sirs/ madam,

Greeting...
Hope all are doing well.

As a part of my Ph.D. work, I am about to collect data for my survey (450 samples). Usually, the response rate using a web-based survey is minimal. Kindly let me know, the ways to motivate the participant. As my sample is very specific and unique in nature, I like to give some incentives to motivate the respondents. But I am finding it difficult to access and add the incentive either in Google form or Survey Monkey using Amazon vouchers.

Please support your suggestions with possible survey websites, videos, and links

Regards
Vrinda

Protocols of this Group:

1. Plz search previous post in group before posing the question.
2. Don't write query in someone's post. Always use the option of New topic for the new question. You can do this by writing to dataanalys...@googlegroups.com
3. Its better to give a proper subject to your post/query. It'll help others while searching.
4. Never write Open ended queries. This group intend to help research scholars NOT FOR WORK THEM.
5. Never write words like URGENT in ur posts. People will help them when they are free.
6. Never upload any info about National Seminars/Conferences. Send such info on personal emails. And feel free to share any RESEARCH related info.
7. No Happy New Year, Happy Diwali, Happy Holi, Happy B'day, Happy Anniversary etc. allowed on this group.
8. Few months back there was a facility for asking & sharing the Research Papers. Now there is no provision of asking for the research paper here.

Let’s make a better research environment.

Hi Vrinda,

I had recently conducted two surveys, and the response rate in those surveys was very high. One of the main reasons for the higher turnout was a detailed cover letter stating the objective of the survey.

Most of the people don't fill the survey (including me) because the cover letter/opening statement doesn't mention why is the survey being conducted? How will the survey help me as a participant? Are there any risks/benefits involved with the survey? How much time will it take to complete the survey? and others.

Clarifying these statements in a cover letter may not lead to a 100% response rate but will increase the response rate, and you'll be able to see this in the responses.

I hope this helps!!

Best Regards,
Karan Babbar

Dear Karan,

Can you share a sample cover letter/statement. You can remove some sensitive information, if any in that.

Best regards,
Ratan

Dear Ratan and Vrinda,

PFB cover letter that I have used for one of my studies.

Dear Participant,

I’m Karan, a Ph.D. Scholar at IIM Ahmedabad. I am inviting you to participate in this
online research survey to understand how COVID-19 has impacted the menstrual health of
menstruators. Your responses will help us understand menstrual health during the emergency
pandemic and improve policies around Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities.

You are eligible to participate in the survey if you’re a menstruator who is 18 years or older.
The survey will take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Please note that there are no right or
wrong answers. Your participation is voluntary. All questions are optional, and you may skip
questions you do not wish to answer. I assure you that the information gathered is for academic
purposes and will not identify you in any way. There are no known risks to participation. Your
responses will remain confidential and anonymous with the highest standards of research
ethics.

You have been informed about this study’s purpose and procedures. There are no foreseeable
risks or benefits for participating in this study. By filling the survey, you give us consent to
participate in the research study.

If you have any questions about the study, you can contact me at phd17...@iima.ac.in. I am
also available on Twitter at https://twitter.com/KaranBabbar19. I will be sharing the results of my
research on my official Twitter handle.

I request your time and cooperation in taking this survey, and thank you for your help in this
research.
