Neeraj Sir and Members of the Group,
I'm working on the work-life balance of women, and to measure this, I want to use a scale developed by "Development and standardization of the work-life balance scale for the insurance sector employees Vidya D Avadhani & Rethy B Menon", but this scale has not been used widely. Can I use this in my thesis?

Choice of scale is an important factor in quantitative studies as there are irreparable consequences once the data collection is over.

To avoid this you can circulate a survey form among your sample (say n=40/50) with the scale measurements that you intend to adopt in your research.

Ask them to rate the relevance of items on a 3 point likert scale (forced choice)..

1. Relevant
2. Not Relevant
3. Can't say.

If majority of the respondents select Not relevant or Can't say then there is no use in adapting this scale for your research given that it will contribute to measurement errors.

Alternatively if a good majority of your sample say that the items are relevant, you can proceed with using the items in the scale.

Now what is majority: Consider 60% to 70% response either side as majority.
