Greetings everyone,

I’m a bit concerned about my results. In my analysis, X → Y shows a positive and significant effect. However, the moderation effect is negative and non-significant, while the direct positive and significant effect of X → Y remains unchanged.

I’m not quite sure how to interpret this. This is the first time I’ve encountered such results. Could you please guide me on how to make sense of these findings, and whether this outcome is valid at all?

Thank you!

Dear Naveli

The non-significant moderation effect simply indicates that the relationship between X and Y remains consistent across all values of your moderator. In essence, the moderator does not significantly alter the established positive and significant effect of X on Y. So consider the relation X->Y is a global relation and it will not change for the various values of mod.

Best wishes
Neeraj
