Adapted or Adopted Scale

Respected Neeraj Sir and other group members, I hope this email finds you well.

I am measuring personality traits using an existing scale with few changes which are as follows;

The original scale consisted of 44 items but I have taken only 25 items in my study.

 Also, I have made some grammatical changes (original questions are in passive voice, I have changed them to active voice ) in the statements .

Is my scale Adopted or Adapted ? Please help me in finding the answer.

When adjustments are made to an existing scale, such as adding or removing items, refining wording, or implementing changes to improve relevance, this is referred to as the adaptation of the scale. Therefore, in your scenario, where modifications were made, it can be characterized as an adaptation of the scale rather than adoption.
