Respected Neeraj Sir and other group members

I am planning to use a mixed-method research design for my thesis. Specifically, I want to use Grounded Theory (GT) for the qualitative phase and then validate/test the outcome variables using PLS-SEM in the quantitative phase. However, I have a few methodological doubts:
  1. In the GT phase, am I expected to generate entirely new variables/constructs that have never been tested earlier, or can I also arrive at constructs that are already present and validated in the literature?

  2. Suppose in the GT phase, I identify a construct, say, Work–Life Balance, which is already well-established in prior research. In the quantitative phase, should I then perform both EFA and CFA, or would it be sufficient to perform only CFA,  since validated scales already exist?

My confusion is in understanding how GT-derived themes/constructs should connect with the subsequent quantitative phase. Any guidance on how to utilize GT alongside PLS-SEM in a mixed-method research design will be a great help for me.

Thanks, and regards

Dear Yash
Two options are possible after the Qualitative Analysis-
 a) You may get entirely new constructs which have never been talked about in extant ROL, In this case go for the New Scale Development and then consider that scale for your phase-2 work of Quantitative Data Analysis.
b) If you come across the constructs, which are already properly define in extant ROL, you can check them once again for the face and content validity
If they are found ok then simply consider them for your phase-2 work of Quantitative Data Analysis.

Best wishes
Neeraj
