Query Regarding Bibliometric Data Collection Period

I hope you are doing well.

I have a query regarding the data collection period for my bibliometric analysis. Since I am extracting data from Scopus in July 2026, should I include papers published in 2026 up to the date of extraction, or should I limit the dataset to publications up to 31 December 2025? I noticed that many bibliometric studies include data only up to the end of a calendar year.

Also, could you please recommend a few research papers or YouTube videos that I should go through before I start writing the paper?

You can include paper till July 2026. And you need to discuss this in paper that you have included papers till July 2026.

  Adding to Shefali Ma'am's response, it is absolutely fine to include data from the current year as well. Preparing a high-quality paper using this technique typically takes more than three months, and incorporating the most recent studies strengthens the review. Recent citations are also very important, as they enhance the relevance, novelty, and quality of the paper.

If I include 2026 papers do I need to calculate hypothetical number of articles for the full year of 2026, assuming linear publication output through out the year. ma'am.

No need to calculate a hypothetical number of articles for the full year of 2026. Bracuse when you will write methodology part ...you have to specifically mention the date, month and year for data extraction
